Michael’s university was located in the iconic Woodstock Biscuit Mill, Cape Town. The owners of TTK had two award winning restaurants based in the mill, and over the course of Michael’s degree, an exciting working relationship developed.
Michael was commissioned to create a variety of artworks and designs, and in 2021 The Test Kitchen hosted Michael’s first solo exhibition.
In late 2021 I helped conceptualise and design a playful visual language for the rebranding of the The Test Kitchen into The Test Kitchen Fledgelings.
Fledgelings is a teaching restaurant. I helped create a visual language that communicates their ethos “Love, Teach, Always with Passion” and applied this language to signage, packaging, promotions and social media.
I assisted in creating various graphics for pop up stalls like The Mussel Crew at the Oranjezicht Market and The Test Kitchen Burgers
In 2022, the owners opened a new restaurant, Test Kitchen Carbon in Rosebank, Johannesburg. I assisted in adapting aspects of their brand identity and was tasked with designing a patina for an extensive metal bar.
